Museum of Dreams
The Community, that gives hospitality to minors and majors in family and personal difficulties, has conceived the museum of dreams with the involvement of the States and Kingdoms of the world to welcome dreams, ideas, values, aspirations, events and limits of the man in these centuries. The museum of dreams departs from far, from the concept that the humanity is separated in geographical realities which are absolutely different, but it shares the same destiny. What happens in the Countries of the world touches everybody. Thus we have thought about knowing these stories, these meaningful experiences, to read them with aware participation and to learn from them. This way our boys wrote to the Representatives of the whole world to ask for a handful of earth or a stone that symbolically remembered an important event that marked the history of their own Country. They answered in 198. The stones and earths have been situated in the museum, where they can talk to everybody: they are essays of history of philosophy and books of prayer. The Museum houses 500 stones as memories of personalities and events of high historical importance. We have to mention the piece of tile bombed by the Americans in Hiroshima, coming from the Commemorative Museum of the Peace and given to our museum, while another sample out of Japan is found only in the United Nations Building and in commodatum.
With the earths of all the Countries we will make 198 bricks of the world .They will be given to the Representatives of all the peoples, besides the General Secretary of the U.N., with the idea of reaching all the men of the world to symbolize the great value of the wealth of the differences, of the solidarity and universal brotherhood, in the clear respect of the national identities.
In Community eight Ambassadors were present at the official delivery of the earths of the whole world. The initiative was born in January 1999 and involved our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian diplomatic representations abroad, Embassies of Foreign States in Italy, Consulates, Institutions, Associations, all the Apostolic Nunciatures and the embassies to the Holy See. The museum has been declared of national interest and the UNESCO has granted its patronage. Subsequently the Mayors of the capitals of all the Countries of the world were involved with the polite application of sending a candlestick, a candle, a small sign of light, to keep the dreams of their own fellow countrymen going. The Mayors of Stockholm , Lisbon, Paris, Riga, Maputo, Cape Town, Hanoi, Athens, Madrid, Budapest, Manila, Dakar, Helsinki answered. Inside the museum there is the section of the miniature Cribs coming from the whole world. The collected Cribs are 1802 and they originate from 149 States. Many were given by Papal Nuncios and Ambassadors to the Quirinal and the Holy See. They are gifts that represent the Countries in service of representation of the Pope or the State.
The initiative " COME, THERE IS PLACE", conceived in Community, had a very high renown. It involved the experience of Neve Shalom - Wahat al - Salam in Israel where families of Hebrews, Muslims and Christians live together. On a piece of olive tree ,which was given to the components of the Community of Neve Shalom in Bethlehem, they carved together a wooden child that crossed the whole Italy stopping itself in 28 " caves " of solidarity with the patronage of the Mo.V.I. in the international year of the volunteers. The collaboration of Father Michael Piccirillo , manager of the Archaeological Mission of Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem was meaningful. Nowadays the visitors can also stop on:
TRIP OF BETHLEHEM LIGHT - 12.500 from Bethlehem to Feltre, via Palermo, Poland (Auschwitz), Czech Republic, Austria, Croazia, Slovenia, Italy.
From MARCINELLE to FELTRE, a trip of a coal piece with the bicycle race (the Tour of Italy) in memory of the 50th anniversary of the tragedy in the Belgian mine where 260 people died.
Other great exhibitions are: BORN FOREVER: children and crucifixes among stories of the man. LATECOMERS to BETHLEHEM : 365 stories from the world in cribs(scenes of nativity). There is also the possibility of visiting an old wooden wagon which was used for the tragic deportations to the concentration camps. (This thanks to TRENITALIA and Italian Railway Net) Lots of people and over 1000 organized groups arrived from the whole world over 5 years to visit this place. The recent thematic initiative for the period 2007/08 was: “From Your NAZARETH to BETHLEHEM" - 175 kms of a long street - Your walk in the roads of the world. It was an ideal census for a new walk for the man's needs in the world. It consisted in a trip through the whole Italy with the Stick of the Citizen (5000 kms on foot with 350 daily stops in 9 months, 100.000 people who were involved in the twelve most important places which were chosen as destination of the theme “THE GRAMMAR OF THE CITIZEN”. |
